Literacy
The focus in language in these two years is on how to help children develop the refined skills necessary for communication as they learn how to become more expressive, vocal, work and play together with others.
Oral, listening, writing, and reading skills are developed through naming exercises (e.g. identifying the nouns in a classroom); One on one writing, writing activities that include motor skills (e.g. practice colours by picking the right pompom colour with a tweezer and placing it onto the right coloured sheet). Connect the dots and tracing of sandpaper letters allows the children to see then feel the shape and learn how it is formed, and then hear the teacher pronounce the sound.
Different letter sound games (e.g. can you find things in the classroom that start with the “mmm” sound?); help children become more aware of their surroundings and encourages them to willingly participate in the group activity.
Mathematics
In the Early Years, we believe mathematics is about more than counting—it is about helping children understand the world around them, building the foundations for logical thinking, problem-solving, and recognizing patterns in everyday life.
Through play, exploration, and discovery, children are introduced to numbers, shapes, space, and measurement in hands-on, meaningful ways. From sorting objects and building towers to sharing snacks and exploring patterns in nature, every activity develops number sense, spatial awareness, and confidence in applying mathematical ideas.
With lessons designed to suit different learning styles, children experience a balance of independent tasks and collaborative group activities, fostering both confidence and enjoyment. Above all, we aim to instill a positive attitude towards mathematics, inspiring children to see themselves as capable, curious problem-solvers and laying the groundwork for lifelong success in learning.
Science
Science in the Early Years is hands-on, exciting, and full of discovery. We nurture children’s natural curiosity through inquiry-based learning, encouraging them to ask questions, explore, and experiment. Through a variety of practical activities and investigations, young learners observe, make predictions, and test ideas, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Children might explore how plants grow, experiment with floating and sinking, or investigate changes in materials, all in ways that are engaging and age-appropriate.
These experiences help children build confidence in analysing, drawing conclusions, and understanding the world around them. By fostering curiosity, creativity, and a spirit of exploration, we lay the foundation for a lifelong love of science and a mindset that encourages questioning, discovering, and learning in every part of their lives.

Why Morning Exercise and Cool-Down Yoga Matters?
At BIS, we believe that student well-being is the foundation of academic and personal success. Circle Time
Apart from fun activities, during circle time our teachers help create a safe and nurturing environment for our preschoolers where they will be encouraged to feel secure and confident.
Circle time activities vary from Monday to Friday. During this time all the students and teachers sit in a circle and get in touch with their emotional understanding, children are encouraged to be kind to their neighboring friend, they are taught to give other a chance to speak and wait their turn.
We end circle time by stretching our arms and legs feeling refreshed to continue our day ahead.
